UpDoNA ANNOUNCEMENTS

Downtown Denver National Night Out

On August 5th, UpDoNA once again partnered with LoDoNA and the Downtown Denver Partnership to bring you the third annual Downtown Denver National Night Out (DDNNO). This event honored those who serve us and keep us safe including the Denver Police, RTD Transit Police, Auraria Police, Drug Enforcement Administration, Denver Fire, Denver Health EMTs and all first responders. This annual event is our opportunity to say thank you for all they do for us.

Our emcee this year was Michael Spencer, evening news anchor for CBS Colorado who did a wonderful job with his friendly demeanor and engaging manner. Mayor Johnston participated as well as Councilmen Chris Hinds and Darrell Watson and many other special guests.

This year, we had more guests than every year so far, and we estimate that around 700 people participated in this fun event where we handed out free hot dogs, soda, popcorn and other treats supplied by Bimbo Bakeries. We had music, door prizes, games, a photo booth, caricature artist, fire trucks, ambulances and Bernie the mascot for the Colorado Avalanche. Denver police gave out free tracking devices that help cut down auto theft, and Brady United gave out free gun locks. We feel that it was a very successful event and that everyone had a good time.

We would like to thank our generous sponsors who made the event possible including Bimbo Bakeries, Denver Metro Building Owners and Managers Association, Kittridge Ventures, Visit Denver, ADT, Colorado Convention Center, LoDo District, Mark Callaghan Real Estate, Crawford Hotel, East West Urban Management, Kroenke Sports and the Oxford Hotel. We would also like to thank the Magnolia Hotel who provided chefs to cook our hot dogs.

The September UNO (UpDoNA Night Out) will be held at Dazzle on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Stay as long as you want and have a great time with other members.

Grant Appreciation Announcement – 19th & Welton Street Educational Pocket Park

UpDoNA and the Arts and Beautification Committee are thrilled to share that Denver’s 19th & Welton Street Educational Pocket Park has received a generous grant from the former Pacific Premier Trust, now Colombia Private Trust!

Thanks to Parks and Rec’s leadership, the park now features drought-resistant trees, a stunning fountain, and pollinator areas—serving as both an outdoor classroom and a welcoming space for all.

We are sincerely grateful to Pacific Premier Trust and Nick McCallister for championing sustainable, community-driven projects that bring fresh life to our neighborhoods.

What is Upper Downtown?

Formerly known as the “Central Business District”, we’re now Upper Downtown and we encompass a large section of the downtown area bordered by Lawrence Street, 20th Street, 20th Avenue, North Broadway, West Colfax and Speer Boulevard.

Our community includes over twenty residential buildings with a mix of condominiums, lofts and apartment rentals. We’re also home to hundreds of businesses (large and small), as well as multiple parks, dining and entertainment venues of all types.
